What I’m doing with clay.
My life has revolved largely around seeing, feeling, and doing. Creative processes are a fascination of mine and I’ve been involved in hands-on activities since. . . forever. Ceramic art is as much an expression of my curiosity in making as it is an endeavor to fulfill a purpose.
My work revolves mostly around things I see and experience as well as my passion for fishing and hiking. My long standing love for the outdoors and for fly fishing are dominant themes that often find their way into my artworks. Nature is an abundant and endless source of inspiration which never fails to refill my creative reservoir.
After earning my undergraduate degrees at Marywood University with a BFA in both ceramics and illustration, I spent several years as a professional production potter in Vermont. I largely credit my skills today to this job where I was able to put my craft to use on a daily basis. After a few years at this position I needed to get back to my own process and ideas. I moved back to Pennsylvania and began to prepare work for a graduate portfolio. I’m now currently enrolled in the MFA program at Edinboro University in western Pennsylvania.
